Born in North Carolina in 1984, Critter began working as a graphic designer in 2008. His clients have included Red Hat, IBM, NC State University, and more. In 2009 he began self-publishing handmade artist’s books. In 2016 he launched Things Change Over Time, and its Normal Fetish imprint. With these two companies he began self-publishing short-run books.

Critter is active as an artist, photographer, writer, and web designer. His Mid Career exhibition at Lump in May and June of 2025 coincided with the publication of Oh No, Calls To Action, 3 Women, Untitled (Coyote), Butterfly Love Letter, and Thirtyfour Or More Vermeers.
